CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- Erin Andrews has sued the hotel where she was secretly videotaped in the nude by a stalker last year. The ESPN reporter has filed a lawsuit against Marriott International and demanded $1.2 million in damages for the severe mental distress the secret tapes caused. The ‘Dancing With The Stars’ contestant has charged the hotel with negligence and invasion of privacy.

The lawsuit filed by Erin Andrews alleges that the hotel provided the necessary information like the room number and reservation information to Michael Barrett without her permission. The lawsuit also includes Michael Barrett who filmed the sports reporter through the peephole of her hotel room. In a statement to the media, Erin Andrews said that she wants to hold accountable all those who put her personal safety at risk and allowed her privacy to be invaded, and made her private moment public, while she was at the hotel. The law firm that has been hired by Erin Andrews said in a statement that not only did the hotel give out Erin Andrews’ room number to Michael Barrett but also provided him with a room adjacent to that of the TV reporter.

Erin Andrews has said on Thursday that although she wont be able to erase the impact of the peephole video spreading all over the web, she will be able to make the hospitality industry more vigilant towards the privacy and safety of the guest from the time they check-in till the time they check out. Michael Barrett is presently serving 30 months after he pleaded guilty for the crime in a court in Los Angeles.
