2 British workers at upstate NY camp killed

WARRENSBURG, N.Y. — A man has been charged with drunken driving and vehicular homicide after two British employees of an upstate New York summer camp were run down and killed.

Peter Goldblatt of Indian Lake was arraigned Friday on charges of driving while intoxicated and aggravated vehicular homicide. The 39-year-old man declined to answer questions from a news reporter. He was being held on $500,000 bail.

New York State Police say the two camp employees were with other workers standing by a road near Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg when a car veered into them Thursday night.

Killed were 21-year-old Dominic Hartley of England and 21-year-old Emily Lewis of Scotland. A camp spokeswoman said Hartley was a counselor and Lewis worked in the camp office. Another counselor was treated for minor injuries.
