NY teen pleads guilty in group home worker’s death

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A New York teenager charged with killing a worker at the group home where he lived has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will testify against a co-defendant.

Eighteen-year-old Robert Thousand pleaded guilty Tuesday in Niagara County Court. The plea deal includes a sentence of 20 to 25 years in prison.

Thousand also agreed to testify against 19-year-old Anthony Allen, who is described as the mastermind of the June 2009 attack on 24-year-old Renee Greco.

Allen is charged with first-degree murder and other counts and is scheduled to go on trial on Aug. 23.

The teens are accused of throwing a blanket over Greco’s head and bludgeoning her to death at the Lockport group home for troubled youth, where they were residents.
