Chicago police say Calif. man arrested for threat
CHICAGO — Police say a California man has been arrested for allegedly threatening a Chicago official.
Chicago police spokeswoman Anne Dwyer says 39-year-old Christopher Fox of San Jose, Calif., was arrested Thursday on suspicion of making a telephone threat against a public official. He’s being held in the Santa Clara County, Calif., Jail on $1 million bond.
Dwyer says Chicago is seeking to extradite Fox. The jail did not know if he had an attorney.
Police would not identify the official involved. But WGN-TV in Chicago says Fox’s mother told the station her son was upset over a comment Mayor Richard M. Daley made last week.
At a news conference, Daley joked about putting a rifle up the “butt” of a reporter who questioned the mayor’s antigun policies.
