Police: Blast in NW Pakistan kills 10

ISLAMABAD — Police say a suspected suicide attack at a political rally in northwestern Pakistan has killed at least 10 people.

Regional police chief Qazi Mohammad Jamil told Geo television that Monday’s attack in Lower Dir district also wounded some 30 people.

A spokesman for the Awami National Party, Zahid Khan, says members of his party were celebrating the recent decision to change the name of North West Frontier Province when the attack occurred.

Pakistani state television said hundreds of people were participating in the rally in the town of Timergarah.
