US briefs European allies on terrorism alert

LUXEMBOURG — EU says a senior US official has briefed the European allies on why Washington has issued a terror warning for Americans traveling to Europe.

The U.S. State Department last weekend advised American citizens living or traveling in Europe to take more precautions about their personal security.

EU officials said Deputy US Homeland Security Secretary Jane Holl Lute on Thursday briefed the interior ministers of the 27 EU nations on the motive behind the decision.
