Charges dropped against Pa. teen citing brutality

PITTSBURGH — A judge has dismissed all charges against a black teenage arts student who accused three white Pittsburgh police officers of wrongly beating him during his arrest.

The decision Thursday came after officers testified for the first time against 18-year-old Jordan Miles. He was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest in the Jan. 12 confrontation.

The FBI is investigating the officers’ conduct. Miles’ attorney says his client passed an FBI lie detector test.

Police say they arrested Miles because they initially thought he had a weapon and was acting suspiciously.

The teenager contends the officers attacked him because they assumed he was a troublemaker. He says he resisted the plainclothes officers only because he didn’t immediately realize why they grabbed him.
