2 teens charged in Minneapolis store killings

MINNEAPOLIS — Prosecutors say they have charged two 17-year-old boys with murder in the shooting of three men during a botched robbery at a Minneapolis corner store.

Prosecutors charged Mahdi Hassan Ali and Ahmed Shire Ali each with three counts of first-degree murder Thursday.

Surveillance camera footage and the criminal complaint indicate Mahdi Ali shot all three victims in the Jan. 6 incident.

The complaint says Ahmed Ali told police that they had intended to rob the store.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says Minnesota law states that if murder is committed during the commission of a felony, all parties to that felony are liable for the deaths even if only one person pulled the trigger.

The teens will be tried as adults. They are not related.
