Kenyan who wanted to kill 100 charged with murder
NAIROBI, Kenya — A Kenyan man who claims he killed 19 people in three years but wanted to slay 100 has been charged with the murder of a 9-year-old boy.
The 32-year-old Philip Onyancha appeared in a Kenyan court Tuesday for the murder of Anthony Njirua Muiruri.
Kenyan police say they initially arrested Onyancha for Muiruri’s kidnapping. Police tracked him down through a mobile phone that police say Onyancha was using to send ransom demands to the boy’s family. Police say Onyancha then confessed to killing the boy and 18 other people.
Onyancha did not answer to the charges because he was not represented by lawyers.
Onyancha has said it was his goal to kill 100 people. Police so far have found the remains of four people.
