Official: 2 shot workers may have been targeted

CRETE, Neb. — An official in Nebraska says at least two of the three employees wounded in a shooting this week at a cold-storage warehouse don’t appear to be random victims.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that Saline County Attorney Tad Eickman says authorities believe some people were targeted. He also said the gun used was a 9 mm pistol and at least 15 shots were fired.

Authorities say 26-year-old Sudanese immigrant Akouch Kashoual shot his three co-workers before killing himself.

Kashoual’s brother, John Bol, has said his brother was “a good kid,” and he thinks the motive for the shootings would be found by talking with surviving workers.

Eickman said the most seriously injured victim, Elizabeth Canas, could not yet respond to questions.
