Rudy Giuliani’s daughter due in NYC court

NEW YORK — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s (joo-lee-AH’-neez) daughter is scheduled to make her first court appearance since being arrested on a shoplifting charge at a cosmetics store.

Caroline Giuliani is due in a Manhattan court Tuesday. Police have said the 20-year-old Harvard University student was seen on security video pocketing more than $100 worth of makeup at a Sephora store earlier this month.

Her lawyer declined to comment Monday. A spokeswoman for her father didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail message. Her father has said through a representative that the case is a personal matter.

Many shoplifting cases are ultimately dismissed if the suspect has no previous record.

Prosecutors declined to comment Monday on Caroline Giuliani’s case.
