THE COMPLAINT: Microsoft Corp. co-founder and billionaire Paul Allen is suing almost a dozen companies, many of them major tech companies, alleging they infringed on several Web technology patents that his company Interval Licensing LLC holds.

THE DEFENDANTS: Companies named in the suit include Apple Inc., eBay Inc., Yahoo Inc. and Google Inc.

WHAT INTERVAL WANTS: The company is seeking unspecified damages and an order that defendants stop infringing on its patents or pay royalties for doing so.
