Guilty plea in NY in Disney insider trading scheme
NEW YORK — A woman accused of conspiring to sell secrets about finances at The Walt Disney Co. has pleaded guilty in a New York City federal court to conspiring to commit securities fraud and wire fraud charges.
Bonnie Hoxie entered the plea in Manhattan on Tuesday. A plea agreement reached between Hoxie and the government said federal sentencing guidelines call for a sentence of between four and 10 months. Sentencing was set for Dec. 21.
Hoxie was charged along with her boyfriend after both were arrested in May in California. The boyfriend has already pleaded guilty in a deal that recommends he serve two to three years in prison.
Prosecutors said Hoxie fed information such as Disney’s quarterly earnings to her boyfriend, who tried to sell the inside tips to 33 investment companies.
