3 dead in Pa. senior complex double murder-suicide

MONESSEN, Pa. — Police and witnesses say an apparent double murder-suicide left three people dead outside a western Pennsylvania apartment complex for senior citizens.

Police say the shooting happened around 9 p.m. Sunday in a pavilion outside Westgate Manor, a high-rise senior citizen complex in Monessen, about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh. Witnesses say the gunman walked up to a man in a wheelchair and a woman sitting next to him and shot them both before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities say there were 25 to 30 other people around who witnessed the shooting and that the man fired at least 11 rounds.

The names of the dead have not been released.
