Blagojevich attorneys, prosecutors to meet
CHICAGO — Attorneys in the corruption trial of Rod Blagojevich say they’ll meet with the judge to discuss how jurors might decide whether to seize the former Illinois governor’s property if he’s found guilty.
Blagojevich attorney Aaron Goldstein says the meeting Wednesday will look at mechanisms for deciding how Blagojevich’s Chicago home and a Washington, D.C., apartment could be forfeited if he’s convicted.
The forfeiture process is dealt with after a verdict if necessary. One option is for jurors to decide it.
Goldstein says the meeting isn’t any indication of where jurors are in their deliberations. They went home Tuesday after a fifth day without a verdict.
Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to trying to sell an appointment to President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat.
