2nd former Kansas athletics official to enter plea

WICHITA, Kan. — A second former University of Kansas athletics official charged in an alleged $1 million ticket-scalping scandal is set to appear in court.

The hearing for Brandon Simmons in federal court in Wichita on Thursday comes a day after a colleague pleaded guilty for his role in the scam.

Simmons is the university’s former assistant athletic director for sales and marketing. He’s charged with knowing about the scheme and concealing it from authorities.

Former assistant director of ticket operations Jason Jeffries pleaded guilty Wednesday to the same charge.

An internal school investigation found the two assistants sold more than $200,000 worth of tickets to Jayhawks games through ticket brokers with the knowledge and consent of their boss.
