MONUMENT, Colo. — Investigators are looking for the couple who had custody of a girl whose body has been found in a vacant home near Colorado Springs.
The El Paso County sheriff’s office confirmed Tuesday that the remains found inside a crawl space at the home in Monument were that of 9-year-old Genesis Sims. Her father, Hanif Sims, and his girlfriend, Monique Lynch once rented the home.
Authorities have said that Genesis wasn’t with the couple when they arrived at a Los Angeles homeless shelter in March 2009 after moving from the Colorado house.
