Ohio man indicted in death reported by 5-year-old

DAYTON, Ohio — An Ohio man has been indicted in the shooting death of his estranged girlfriend, whose 5-year-old son reported her killing to a 911 dispatcher.

The Montgomery County prosecutor’s office says 26-year-old Damien Brown was indicted Friday on murder, felonious assault and weapons charges.

Investigators say Brown shot 25-year-old Marquita Brown in the head at her home in Dayton following an argument June 25. Authorities say the boy was the only other person there, and that Damien Brown fled, leaving the revolver within the child’s reach.

The boy called 911, telling a dispatcher that Brown had shot his mother and begging for someone to come stay with him.

Brown was arrested shortly after the shooting on a probation violation.
