Accused pot growers charged with child abuse
DENVER — The Denver district attorney has charged a couple with child abuse for allegedly growing marijuana in the home they shared with three children.
The district attorney’s office says Joseph Daniel Lightfoot and Amber Brooke Wildenstein, both 29, were charged Wednesday with one count each of child abuse. There were released on $50,000 bond each.
Colorado allows marijuana to be used for medical purposes, and authorities say the couple operate a licensed marijuana growing operation in their home. But children ages 7, 9 and 11 live there, and state law says a person who manufactures a controlled substance in the presence of a child or where a child is found or lives can face child abuse charges.
