2nd defendant in Disney case freed in NY

NEW YORK — A woman charged with scheming to sell secrets about finances at Walt Disney Co. has been freed on bail.

Bonnie Hoxie of Los Angeles is a former Disney secretary. She and her boyfriend were arrested in California last month in the insider trading case filed in New York.

The 33-year-old Hoxie made a court appearance Wednesday in Manhattan federal court. She was freed after agreeing to post $50,000 bond.

Afterward, her lawyer said she was a good employee and the allegations are unproven.

Prosecutors allege Hoxie obtained information on Disney’s quarterly earnings before they were made public and gave them to her boyfriend. He’s accused of trying to sell the tips to at least 33 investment companies.

If convicted, the defendants could face up to 25 years in prison.
