NY teen charged in plot on his old high school
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — A New York teenager is facing charges of planning a Columbine-style attack on his former high school — the second time he has been accused of such a plot.
Christopher Franko, who turned 18 on Tuesday, was ordered held without bail after his attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. He is charged with conspiring with another teen to attack former classmates at Connetquot (KAHN’-eht-kwaht) High School on Long Island.
Prosecutors say the teens were plotting to attack the Bohemia school Thursday with shotguns and explosives to cause as many deaths as possible before killing themselves.
Assistant District Attorney Glenn Kurtzrock noted Franko had been arrested in 2007 as a juvenile for plotting a similar attack on the school. That case was handled in juvenile court.
