St. Bonaventure’s Eleby leaves program
OLEAN, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure officials say starting point guard Malcolm Eleby, one of four players charged in connection with a stabbing earlier this year, has left the basketball program.
Head coach Mark Schmidt said Eleby, of Philadelphia, won’t return for his senior season in 2010-11.
Eleby is the second player to leave the school after being charged in connection with an on-campus stabbing that injured two men. Guard Lewis Leonard left last month. Da’Quan Cook and Brett Roseboro also each face at least one count of harassment and disorderly conduct.
Two men were treated for stab wounds after the March 21 fight.
Eleby started 57 games for the Bonnies, averaging 5.2 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds a game.
