California man gets 75 to life for 3 murders

OXNARD, Calif. — A California man described by a prosecutor as “the epitome of evil” has been sentenced to 75 years to life for murdering three people six years ago.

Ventura County prosecutors said Tuesday that 28-year-old Rudolfo Negrete (nah-GRET’-ee), formerly of Oxnard, had no conscience and was a cold-blooded killer.

He was found guilty of killing Daniel Campos, Alex Jordan and his wife, Cynthia Jordan. All the victims were in their early 20s.

Negrete fled the country and was extradited in 2007. Because of an extradition treaty with Mexico, prosecutors agreed not to pursue the death penalty or life without parole.

The victim’s family members described their pain and loss. Jordan’s mother said Negrete was a coward because he stared ahead throughout the sentencing.
