Ohio man gets to 26 years to life in wife’s death

CINCINNATI — An Ohio man convicted of murdering and dismembering his wife has been sentenced to 26 years to life in prison.

John Strutz was sentenced Tuesday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court in Cincinnati in the killing of 28-year-old Kristan Strutz.

Prosecutors said the 31-year-old Strutz killed his wife and cut up her body. Her torso was found in a trash can outside the couple’s suburban Delhi (DEHL’-hy) Township home on Aug. 16, a day after her husband reported her missing.

Strutz told Judge John West on Tuesday that he is innocent. Prosecutors say the couple had marital problems.

Strutz was convicted April 20 of one count of murder, two counts of tampering with evidence and one count of abuse of a corpse.
