Report: Red flags missed in Del. child abuse case

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The dean of a Delaware law school says red flags were consistently missed in the case of a pediatrician charged with sexually abusing more than 100 children.

Linda Ammons, dean of Widener University Law School, released a report Tuesday after spending about four months studying the state’s handling of the case. She sent a list of 73 recommendations to Gov. Jack Markell.

Ammons says the state had been on notice since the mid-1990s that there may have been an issue with Dr. Earl Bradley. But she says people weren’t talking to each other in ways that would have brought Bradley closer scrutiny earlier.

Bradley has pleaded not guilty to charges outlined in a 471-count indictment.
