Wash. killer asks jury to spare his life

SEATTLE — The man convicted of killing two women and two children apologized in a Seattle courtroom to their family Monday and asked the jury to spare his life — for his family’s sake.

KOMO Radio reports Conner Schierman’s (SHYR’-mans) voice shook with emotion as he said he was sorry for the loss.

But he did not acknowledge the killings. He has said he was in an alcoholic blackout when the four were killed and their home set on fire in July 2006.

Schierman was convicted April 12 of four counts of aggravated murder and one count of arson. He didn’t testify in the trial.

In the penalty phase, the King County Superior Court jury is deciding whether the 28-year-old should be executed or sentenced to life in prison without parole.
