George Huguely: UVA midfielder charged with first degree murder

San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) George Huguely has been charged in the death of 22 year old Yeardly Love who was women’s lacrosse player for the University of Virginia.

She was found unresponsive by Police as they responded to a possible alcohol overdose call at a Charlottesville, Va. Apartment at 2:15 a.m. on Monday. She was found in bed by a roommate at the apartment Love shared with two female friends. They live three blocks from the UVA campus. Police started investigation of murder as there were some signs of ‘obvious physical trauma’.

Huguely was then found at his apartment where he was questioned and arrested at about 6 a.m. It is learned that Huguely and Love had a past relationship but more details on this issue is not yet available.

George Huguely is a fourth year Virginia lacrosse player. He attended the Landon school in Bethesda. He also played lacrosse there. Yeardly was also a fourth year student at the school. Huguely resides at Chevy Chase, Md.

He previously had some allegations of sexual assault and racist behavior against the members of Duke University’s men’s lacrosse team.

It is reported that Huguely is now in the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.

Reportedly, the university said in a statement that it would supports and co-operate with any police investigations.

Huguely played in 15 games this season for the top-ranked Cavaliers, registering four goals and three assists. Love also played in 15 games this season, starting three for the fourth-ranked UVA women. Both teams’ regular seasons have concluded and each are expected to be seeded in their respective NCAA tournaments.
