Ex-FBI agent gets 30 years for CA drug house plot

SANTA ANA, Calif. — A former FBI agent who was convicted of plotting to rob a Southern California drug house with a machine gun has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.

Vo Duong Tran and his accomplice, Yu Sung Park, were sentenced Monday afternoon in federal court in Santa Ana.

Tran and Park were arrested last year in an FBI sting operation and convicted of conspiracy and gun crimes.

Prosecutors say they were taped while making plans to rob what they thought was a drug stash house in Orange County.

Tran was an FBI agent in Chicago for more than a decade before he was fired in 2003.

Investigators say Tran flew in from New Orleans to raid the home. A machine gun, ski masks and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found in a car and a Fountain Valley hotel room the men used.
