Pa. police arrest relative in year-old killings

GREENSBURG, Pa. — A 49-year-old western Pennsylvania man has been charged with fatally shooting his mother, sister and an aunt a year after the women’s bodies were found in his small-town glass shop.

Police say Kevin Lee Murphy lived with his mother and sister, and they disapproved of his relationship with a married woman. They say it’s possible his aunt just happened by and was shot while he was killing the others in Loyalhanna Township.

But police aren’t discussing how other evidence spelled out in a criminal affidavit fits together. Police say Murphy did Internet searches on incest that focused on “moms,” and information about “how to make poison.”

Police say Murphy, who was jailed after Friday’s arrest, was also trying to get nearly $316,000 from the estates of his mother and sister.
