Pa. man charged with killing 3 relatives in 2009

GREENSBURG, Pa. — A 49-year-old western Pennsylvania man has been charged with fatally shooting his mother, sister and an aunt, whose bodies were found a year ago in his glass shop.

Police say Kevin Lee Murphy lived with his mother and sister, and they disapproved of his relationship with a married woman. They say it’s possible his aunt just happened by and was shot while he was killing the others in Loyalhanna Township.

Police say Murphy did Internet searches on incest that focused on “moms” and on information about “how to make poison.”

Police say Murphy was also trying to get nearly $316,000 from the estates of his mother and sister.

He was jailed after Friday’s arrest.

Authorities and the district justice didn’t know whether Murphy has an attorney.
