Mayor of NYC suburb accused of witness tampering
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A suburban New York City mayor facing charges of roughing up his wife has been accused of trying to persuade her not to testify against him.
Court papers filed Thursday allege White Plains Mayor Adam Bradley told his wife she should recant her claims against the 48-year-old Democrat or go to a mental hospital and say she was crazy.
Fumiko (FOO’-mee-koh) Bradley had accused her husband of slamming a door on her hand, resulting in his Feb. 28 arrest on an assault charge.
On March 5 she announced she didn’t want him prosecuted and wouldn’t cooperate. The court papers say that’s about the time Adam Bradley told her she should recant.
The mayor has pleaded not guilty.
