Charged NH teacher sorry for attending school meet

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — A New Hampshire teacher accused of e-mailing nude photos of herself to a 15-year-old student says sorry for causing the student and his family any distress after they saw her at a gymnastics meet.

Melinda Dennehy’s attorney says the 41-year-old teacher didn’t intend to cross paths with the student when she attended the meet in Hampstead last weekend.

Police and prosecutors say they’re trying to determine if Dennehy violated her bail on the indecent exposure and lewdness charge by attending the meet.

Defense attorney Cathy Green tells the New Hampshire Union Leader that Dennehy agreed not to attend future gymnastic events and only went to the Hampstead meet because her daughter was competing.

Dennehy is on leave from her job at Londonderry High School.
