Limelight to license Twister Investments patents
TEMPE, Ariz. — Network services provider Limelight Networks Inc. on Friday said it has entered into a patent licensing deal, in exchange for the dismissal of a related federal lawsuit.
Limelight said it will pay an undisclosed amount to Twister Investments LLC to license patents. Under the agreement, Limelight will also allow its request for a jury trial related to a patent dispute to be dismissed.
According to a complaint filed in Arizona District Court, Twister Investments of San Diego and its parent company, New Jersey-based Allied Security Trust, posted documents online claiming Limelight infringed on certain patents related to moving data across networks.
In the court document, Limelight said Twister and Allied Security Trust threatened to file a lawsuit for patent infringement or sell the patents in question to one of Limelight’s competitors.
Limelight was seeking a trial to determine it does not infringe on the patents in question.
