NY man, 90, due in court on charge of killing wife
AMHERST, N.Y. — A 90-year-old man charged with killing his wife of nearly 68 years in their home in a western New York retirement community is due in court Thursday.
John Bunz was charged with second-degree murder on Sunday after the body of 89-year-old Virginia Bunz was found in the couple’s apartment in the Buffalo suburb of Amherst. John Bunz was briefly hospitalized with self-inflicted wounds.
He’s scheduled to appear for a felony hearing Thursday.
Police have not said how Virginia Bunz was killed or discussed a possible motive, saying only that the death was an apparent domestic homicide.
It’s unknown whether Bunz has a lawyer. There was no listing for one at the court.
The couple would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary April 4.
