Colo trooper free on bail after suspected DUI

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A Colorado state trooper who was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving while on duty is free on $1,000 bail.

Forty-eight-year-old David Dolan was arrested outside Denver while in uniform and driving a marked Colorado State Patrol car Monday. Authorities say several people called 911 to report the car was being driven erratically.

A woman who answered his home phone hung up without commenting Tuesday. It’s not clear whether he has an attorney.

Dolan faces charges of driving under the influence and prohibited use of weapons. Colorado law makes it illegal for anyone to have a firearm while intoxicated. He is due in court Monday to discuss his bail.

Dolan is on unpaid leave. The patrol has launched an internal investigation.
