Pakistani diplomat: Kidnapped boy has been found
LONDON — A British boy kidnapped from his family’s home in Pakistan has been located, Pakistan’s top diplomat in London said Thursday.
Sahil Saeed was snatched from his grandmother’s house in Pakistan’s Jehlum city last week after robbers held the family at gunpoint for several hours. Pakistani High Commissioner Wajid Hasan said that Sahil had been found. He did not give any details, saying he just learned of the development.
“He has been found, that’s all I can tell you,” Hasan told The Associated Press, explaining that he learned of the news in a phone call from officials in Islamabad Wednesday night.
But there was no immediate confirmation of the news in Pakistan. The British High Commission in Islamabad said it was checking into the reports. Police officials in Pakistan would not confirm the matter either.
There was additional confusion over the movements of Sahil’s father, Raja Naqqash Saeed, who was with him when he was kidnapped.
There were conflicting reports that Saeed had returned to Britain on Wednesday, although it’s not clear why he would leave Pakistan without his son.
