Fla. man pleads guilty to threatening president

PENSACOLA, Fla. — A Florida man faces up to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to kill President Barack Obama and his family.

Federal prosecutors said 30-year-old Renee Curet pleaded guilty Tuesday in Pensacola. A judge scheduled Curet’s sentencing for May 11.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Curet is already in custody at the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution on unrelated charges.

In an October letter to the White House, Curet threatened to kill the president and everybody in the Pentagon.

A message left by The Associated Press with Curet’s attorney was not immediately returned.
