2 dead after Colo. officers fire on stolen pickup
DENVER — Colorado officers opened fire on a stolen pickup that rammed patrol cars early Friday.
Two suspects died. Investigators declined to say whether they were killed by gunfire or the crash. No officers were hurt.
A third, uninjured person in the pickup was taken into custody, Adams County sheriff’s Sgt. Candi Baker said.
The crash occurred just north of the Denver city limits.
Baker said the pursuit began at about 2 a.m. Adams County deputies, the Colorado State Patrol and police from the suburbs of Westminster and Federal Heights followed the pickup, which was equipped with a tracking device.
Baker said the pickup rammed three marked patrol vehicles, and a deputy and a Westminster officer responded by opening fire. The pickup then crashed into a retail greenhouse.
No names have been released.
