Closings slated at NYPD subway assault trial

NEW YORK — Testimony has concluded at the trial of a Brooklyn policeman accused of a sex attack and two officers accused of covering it up.

Attorneys are scheduled to present closing statements Tuesday.

Officer Richard Kern is charged with aggravated sexual abuse and assault. Officers Alex Cruz and Andrew Morales are charged with hindering prosecution and official misconduct. All deny wrongdoing.

Michael Mineo claims he was sodomized with a police baton in a subway station on Oct. 15, 2008.

He is suing the city. Defense attorneys claim that he is exaggerating claims to get a bigger payday.
