Police: Pa. man told TV station he would rob bank

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Police in eastern Pennsylvania say a man frustrated with bank overdraft charges threatened to rob the branch and invited a TV station to film him doing it.

Colonial Regional police say 40-year-old Francis Coleman called WFMZ on Wednesday night to say he was upset with a Bank of America branch in Bethlehem.

Police say Coleman told the station to be at the bank at 11 a.m. Thursday with “cameras rolling” because he was going to rob it.

A WFMZ producer says Coleman left his name and phone number when he called. WFMZ reported the threat to police, who went to Coleman’s home in Hanover Township.

Coleman is charged with making terroristic threats. He’s being held in the Northampton County Prison. It was not immediately clear whether he has a lawyer.
