Neighbor testifies at Peterson’s ‘hearsay’ hearing
JOLIET, Ill. — A neighbor of former Illinois police officer Drew Peterson says she doesn’t believe his fourth wife left her children behind to run off with another man.
Sharon Bychowski (by-COW’-ski) is scheduled to testify Monday in a hearing to determine if prosecutors can use such “hearsay” evidence during Peterson’s trial in the slaying of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Bychowski testified Friday that Peterson told her that his fourth wife, Stacy, ran off with another man. She disappeared in 2007.
Savio was found dead in a dry bathtub in her home in 2004. Her death was initially ruled a suicide, but officials exhumed her body and ruled the death a homicide after Stacy Peterson went missing.
Drew Peterson has not been charged in Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.
