Peterson’s sibling testifies at ‘hearsay’ hearing
JOLIET, Ill. — The stepbrother of a former police officer accused of killing his third wife has testified that his sibling asked him if he could commit murder on his behalf.
Thomas Morphey says Drew Peterson asked him whether he loved him enough to kill for him.
Morphey says he responded that he couldn’t live with himself if he took someone’s life.
Morphey took the stand Thursday in a hearing to decide whether prosecutors can use “hearsay” evidence to prove allegations that Peterson killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.
Savio’s death was ruled a homicide after Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, disappeared in 2007. Peterson hasn’t been charged in that case.
Morphey said he “always assumed” Peterson killed Savio but that he denies it.
