Sheriff: Death of accused CA financier was suicide
SANTA ANA, Calif. — Authorities have concluded the death of Southern California financier Danny Pang was a suicide.
Orange County Supervising Deputy Coroner Kelly Keyes said Monday that Pang’s death in September, while he was facing charges of fraud, was caused by a combination of drugs, including antidepressants, pain relievers, anti-anxiety medication and THC, which is found in marijuana.
Pang, of Newport Beach, was indicted in July on charges of illegally structuring financial transactions to evade currency-reporting requirements.
The Securities and Exchange Commission had seized his assets and those of his two investment companies, accusing Pang of raising hundreds of millions of dollars from mostly Taiwanese investors through fraudulent securities.
