NJ ex-official gets 4 years in sex video scheme
MAYS LANDING, N.J. — A former Atlantic City, N.J., official is headed to state prison for his role in a sex video blackmail scheme.
Former city public works director David Callaway was sentenced Friday to a four-year term. He was convicted in October on conspiracy, criminal coercion and invasion of privacy charges.
Callaway’s older brother, Ronald, and a family friend also were convicted in the scheme. They were sentenced last month.
Prosecutors say the men lured Atlantic City Councilman Eugene Robinson to a motel in November 2006 and secretly videotaped him engaging in a sex act with a prostitute.
The tape was leaked to the media in an attempt to get Robinson, a political rival, to resign. He refused and contacted authorities instead.
