Minn. SWAT officer arrested in suburban robberies

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis police SWAT team member has been arrested in a string of suburban robberies.

Police Chief Tim Dolan said Thursday that officers in his department helped break the case, and the FBI was investigating.

The 28-year-old officer has not been immediately charged and authorities did not immediately say which specific robberies they believe he committed. FBI spokesman E.K. Wilson says he can’t comment.

The officer was initially booked into the Dakota County Jail, but officials say he is now in U.S. Marshals custody.

The officer was assigned to the 3rd Precinct of south Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police union president John Delmonico calls the case “disgusting” and said the union won’t do anything to help the accused officer.
