Suspect in Utah officer slaying found sleeping

SALT LAKE CITY — The suspect in the shooting death of a Utah sheriff’s deputy has been arrested after being found asleep inside a shed.

A spokeswoman for the Millard County sheriff’s office says 37-year-old Roberto Miramontes Roman was captured around 8 a.m. Wednesday in Beaver County.

Lindsay Mitchell says Roman was taken into custody along with another suspect, Ruben Chavez.

Chavez is the owner of a Cadillac that was stopped early Tuesday by Millard County sheriff’s deputy Josie Greathouse Fox, who was shot dead.

Roman, the subject of an intensive manhunt, has been charged with capital murder.

Beaver County Sheriff Cameron Noel told The Salt Lake Tribune that deputies found both suspects asleep inside a shed.
