HICKORY (GaeaTimes.com)- The police has been searching for a North Carolina girl Zahra Clare Baker, who disappeared last Saturday. What seemed to be a normal case of a missing girl has turned into an investigation of homicide, Hickory Police Chief Tom Adkins announced Tuesday. The Police Chief also said that Elisa Baker, the disabled missing girl’s step mother, who is already in the custody for charges which are not related, has admitted to the police that she wrote a note demanding money and kept it in one of their cars on Saturday. The police chief said that Elisa Baker has been charged with felony obstruction of justice.
Elisa Baker previously told during the investigation that she saw her step-daughter Zahra Clare Baker sleeping in her bed around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, before the report of fire in their backyard. However, the Hickory Police Chief Tom Adkins did not mention why he called the case as a homicide investigation. Moreover, the investigators have reported that the neighbors of the family has not seen the girl for a month! Brittany Bentley, who is married to Elisa Baker’s nephew told a reputed media source that the 10 year old girl who had bone cancer, hearing aids and a prosthetic leg had a miserable home life as she was locked in her room always and punished for small things.
Brittany Bentley also said that Elisa Baker used to treat her step-daughter terribly and she was allowed to stay out of her room only for five minutes to eat. Even one of Zahra Clare Baker’s neighbor said that six months ago she noticed that the 10 year old girl’s hand was swollen. The police says that Zahra Clare Baker’s father Adam Baker will also be investigated again.
