Child identifies attacker at Memphis murder trial

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An 11-year-old boy who survived an attack at a Memphis home that left six people dead has identified his uncle as the man who stabbed him in the neck and head.

The boy testified at Jessie Dotson’s murder trial Wednesday that the man he called “Uncle Junior” came after him with a knife after he heard a gunshot and saw him point a gun at his father. Asked by a prosecutor where the man was who stabbed him, the boy pointed at Dotson and said, “Right there.”

Dotson has pleaded not guilty to six first-degree murder charges and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. The boy’s father, two siblings and three adults died in the 2008 attack. Three siblings survived.

The Associated Press isn’t naming the boy because he is a juvenile witness.
