Relatives: shooter struggled with schizophrenia
SEATTLE — Relatives of a woman who fatally shot three family members and herself at a Seattle home Thursday say she suffered from depression and schizophrenia.
KIRO-TV reports the family released a statement Friday mourning the loss of four family members. The statement says the woman, whom they identified as Saroeun Phan, sought medical attention many times and has been taking medication, though it wasn’t clear whether she was doing so in recent months.
The family says no arguments or fights took place the night before.
Police responding to a report of gunshots Thursday afternoon found four dead in the home, including a woman in her 50s they believe was the shooter. Another woman was injured.
Police have not determined a motive for the killing.
