RICHMOND (GaeaTimes.com)- The US Supreme court has decided to go on with the execution of Teresa Lewis in spite of her attorney claiming that there is a new evidence in the case. The court denied the appeals of the lawyer who asked for clemency for Teresa Lewis saying that she was a borderline retard and the gunmen had manipulated her. He also told the media that the woman is good and decent and will be losing her life on Thursday due to the broken legal system.
Teresa Lewis was convicted of the murders of her husband and step son. She hired two men who she offered money and sex to commit the murders. She pleaded guilty to the crime in 2003 and has been on the death row ever since. Her execution will be the first for a woman in United States in past five years. The reason for the brutal murders of her own family members was found to be money as she was to receive an insurance payout of $250,000.
Teresa Lewis‘ attorney has argued that his client is borderline retard and was manipulated by the gunmen. In spite of the protests the U.S. Supreme Court said that there was no solid evidence that proved that Teresa Lewis was not directly responsible for the death of her husband and step son. She will be given the lethal injection on Thursday. The case has also taken a more political flavor as the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has criticized the American government for its decision. He said that when it came to the execution of the woman in Iran for the murder of her husband, the case received a huge amount of negative publicity from the country.
